Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) managed by women have made significant contributions to advancing gender equality across civil society, such as increasing participation in politics and decreasing instances of gender-based violence. However, a number of impediments continue to stall this progress, including women’s underrepresentation in leadership roles, limited access to NGO funding, and minimal influence of NGO advocacy adopted within gender policies at the local and national levels. A deeper understanding of the important role of women’s NGOs in advocating for women’s rights and gender equality is of great urgency to shaping a more equal and inclusive future for all. Join us for a book discussion of research and case studies about women changemakers across Indonesia.
